Web Video and GIFs

Your homework:

Make a GIF related to your beat. Whether it is a photo gallery GIF, time-lapse or video clip, create a GIF with text — that’s clearly related to your beat. Load it into your folder onto the server and post the link in the comments to this blog post by Wednesday, October 7 at 4 p.m.

Week 5: Audio Slideshows

Here are this week’s slides:

Intro to Audio Slideshows

Here are your beats:

J309 Beats

There was a lot of overlap with your pitches, so I limited the scope of some. In other cases, the pitches were very specific, so I went with a broader term in order to give you room to generate both a midterm and a final within that topic.

Here’s your homework:

1.) Head to our section of the map to find, record and photograph an audio slideshow related to your beat. It must include a human (intro and at least one quote), ambient sound, captions and no narration from you. The length is about 1 minute and 30 seconds. Load the publish_to_web folder into your personal folder on our server and put the link in the comments of this post. This is due by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30.

Week 4: Intro to Audio

Here are this week’s slides:

Introduction to Audio

Your homework:

1.) Head to our section of the map to find, record and edit an in-their-own-words profile piece. Must include a human (intro and at least one quote) and ambient sound. Use the NPR Sounds L.A. series as a model. Load the audio into Soundcloud and put the link in the comments. This assignment is due by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23.

2.) Write up pitches for your top three topic/beat choices. Must include at least one REAL source per beat, plus how you plan to use multimedia to tell the story. Email me your pitches by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23.
